Save Irvine Open Space

Protect what makes Irvine special.

We are neighbors, former mayors, HOA leaders, and community volunteers united to protect Irvine’s remaining open space. Our mission is simple: to preserve the natural beauty, trails, parks, and wildlife areas that define Irvine’s quality of life for our families today and for future generations.

For decades, Irvine has been admired as a model city—carefully planned, green, and balanced. Yet new development proposals and zoning changes now threaten to erase that balance. We believe in smart growth, transparency, and genuine public participation—not quiet backroom deals that trade public green space for private gain.

Our Current Focus

The Save Irvine Open Space Board of Directors, along with our local HOA leaders, are dedicated to resolving the unrecorded easement necessary to protect the preservation of the Center City Open Space at Oak Creek.

This easement was originally intended to be recorded with the County in the mid-1990s, as required under the City’s Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) of 1988. Despite this clear obligation, the easement remains unrecorded to this day.

We are now calling upon the City of Irvine and the Irvine Company to fulfill this legal requirement and take immediate action to record the easement, ensuring that the Center City Open Space remains permanently protected for public benefit.

Former Irvine mayors, current and past HOA presidents, and local community leaders have joined together in a joint statement supporting permanent open-space protections, public transparency, and environmental accountability. Their unified message is clear: the preservation of Irvine’s open space is not optional—it is a promise that must be honored.
