Irvine’s Green Spaces Are Under Attack.
Find Your Street.
When you look at a map of Irvine, you’ll see pockets of green spread throughout the city. These areas represent our parks, canyons, golf courses, trails, and preserved natural spaces—the very foundation of what makes Irvine one of the most livable cities in America.
But today, that green is fading.
The Irvine Company is proposing to redevelop Oak Creek Golf Course, one of the largest remaining open spaces in the heart of the city. It was marketed to residents as protected land—open space that would remain untouched. But now, that promise is unraveling.
“If they can build on Oak Creek, they can build anywhere.”
— That’s the concern voiced by residents across Irvine as they watch one of the city’s most iconic green spaces come under threat.
This is about more than just one golf course. It’s about setting a precedent. If the Irvine Company can pave over Oak Creek, what’s to stop them from targeting the next green space? Shady Canyon? Bommer Canyon? Jeffrey Open Space Trail? Land surrounding the Great Park? We all people who live in this city united to protect our cherished open space!
Use the Map: Find Your Village, Your Street — and Your Open Space
Take a moment to view the map on this page.
Find your village, your street, your local parks and trails. Look at the green areas nearby — the natural buffer zones, recreation areas, and wildlife corridors that define your neighborhood.
Now ask yourself:
What happens if those areas are next?
The proposed redevelopment of Oak Creek is a warning: No open space is safe unless we act.
Irvine’s Promise of Preservation Is at Risk
When Irvine was planned and built, open space was not an afterthought — it was a promise. Residents accepted density, master plans, and managed growth in exchange for preserved land and natural beauty.
That promise is now being broken.
If the city allows development on Oak Creek, it sets the stage for developers to go after any open space marked “protected” on paper. The deal made with the people of Irvine — one that defines our quality of life — is in jeopardy.

We can't lose that.
Find your street. Find your open space. Then fight for it.
