July 22, 2025 City Hall Update:
Big win for Irvine open space supporters!
Last night’s City Council meeting brought out a strong turnout from the community—and it made a difference.
Residents overwhelmingly rejected the confusing ballot language proposed by the city attorney and called for a clear, transparent ballot—or two separate ballots if necessary. The Council listened and directed the city attorney to revise the language.
This is a huge step forward in the effort to protect Oak Creek Open Space.
That said, we need to stay engaged. We must closely monitor what language actually appears on the final ballot in the weeks ahead.
Also important: The City is required to request and obtain an easement for the land where Oak Creek Golf Course is located. This must happen before any development can be considered—or before any vote takes place.
Thanks to everyone who spoke, emailed, or just showed up. The community’s voice is being heard—let’s keep the momentum going!
Help us protect Oak Creek.
